How to Cat

#cats

Kumo & Raiu

Thanks for looking after them — they’re happy to have your company!

Some quick notes:

  • They eat four times a day: the automatic feeder handles three morning feedings (8:30am, 9:30am, and 10:30am).
  • You’ll be helping with dinner around 8pm.
  • The schedule shows what tasks need to be done each day. The instructions below cover the steps for each task.

For your reference:

  • Kumo is the mostly white cat
  • Raiu is the mostly gray cat

Schedule

  1. Fri, Jul 24 Dinner
  2. Sat, Jul 25
  3. Sun, Jul 26 Dinner

Dinner

Around 8pm — one can of wet food each, mixed with chicken bone broth.

Equipment

Directions

  • Gather the above equipment and food and set up a prep station.
    • Put each metal bowl on a scale and tare.
  • Liquify the bone broth.
    • Shake well the container of bone broth and pour ½ cup of the chicken bone broth into the beaker.
    • Heat it in the microwave for 35 seconds to liquify the broth.
  • Mash the wet food.
    • Open both cans and throw out the lids.
    • Using the spoon, scoop cat food from cans into the bowls.
    • Mash both bowls equally into a paste.
  • Add liquified broth to bowls.
    • Add equal amounts of the liquified broth to each bowl. You should yield approximately 200g tared weight per bowl.
    • Mix both bowls with the spoon to combine the broth and paste.
  • Set bowls on the ground and watch them eat.
  • Clean up.
    • Put spoon, masher, bowls in the dishwasher.
    • Throw out empty cans in the trash.
    • Rinse the beaker and put it in the drying rack.
    • Wipe down any the counter if cat food / broth spilled.

Notes

  • While Raiu is eating, keep Kumo away from his bowl — Kumo will go for Raiu’s food once he’s finished his own.
  • Raiu sometimes gets distracted or spooked and wanders off mid-meal. That doesn’t mean he’s done, so give him a chance to come back.
  • Once Raiu is truly done, Kumo can finish whatever’s left.

Water

Check how much water there is in their water fountain located in the bedroom. Fill it up if it’s less than half full.

  • Grab the AquaTru jug of filtered water from the kitchen counter.
    • If there’s no more water in the AquaTru jug, use one of the three glass jugs beside the water boiler.
  • Pour filtered water into the cat fountain from the top. Be sure not to over-fill. There is a max line on the left side of the fountain.
  • Return the jug back to the kitchen.

Kibble

Check both automatic dispensers located under the kitchen counter by the stools. If they are less than half full, fill them up.

  • Grab the kitchen ladder beside the fridge and take it to the entryway closet.
  • Grab one large glass jug (top right of the closet) of dry cat food and bring it to the cat food dispensers.
  • Open the tops of the cat food dispensers and refill them.
  • Put the empty jug back up in the entryway closet.
